RESEARCH THEMES

Aiming for autonomous robotic surgery, a central theme of my research is to develop machine learning-driven technologies to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the surgery environment. This includes various tasks such as 3D reconstruction of surgical scenes, robot pose tracking, surgical navigation, semantic understanding of the environment, etc. Such understanding can support surgical planning and guidance, as well as allow the robot to perform surgical tasks autonomously. Additionally, Iā€™m exploring the extension of these technologies to other medical procedures, as well as relevant topics including smart in-hospital/at-home care and general-purpose robots.
